Survey Leader's Comments
The most interesting thing we almost didn't see on this adventure was Carp Creek. Just south of the "Yacht Club" there were a couple of seagulls which were very interested in something on the rocky beach. When I looked a little closer, I could see that the rocks were wet, and there even seemed to be a little water oozing out of the space between the rocks. When I dug a little, more water came out. Eventually, I could see that the wet spot was actually the exit of a very large square concrete pipe, which was completely covered by the beach rocks. Most of the creek was actually flowing through the rocks, and only a little was making its way to the surface, only to quickly flow back down into the surrounding rocks and to the sea unnoticed. A very difficult migration path.
